Mike Flewitt, CEO

Mike Flewitt joined McLaren Automotive as Chief Operating Officer in June 2012 and became a Chief Executive Officer in June 2013. At the time of joining, the position was a new and strategic addition to the executive team and came as the company embarked on a new period of growth. Mike’s role as a CEO included the development, manufacture, and global distribution and marketing of a range of current and future McLaren sports cars.

Prior to joining McLaren, Mike was Vice President, Manufacturing, Ford of Europe, and Corporate Officer, Ford Motor Company – positions that culminated in nine years with the company. Before joining Ford, he held senior manufacturing and operations roles at TWR Group Limited, AutoNova AB (Volvo) and Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars Limited.

Mike has always had a passion for automotive. Inspired by automotive legend and founder of Lotus, Colin Chapman, Mike said: “He was an inspired engineer, a great leader-businessman and a brilliant driver, much the same as Bruce McLaren was. These days, those would be three distinct jobs, but these guys managed to do them all.”

Since leaving McLaren Automotive at the end of 2021, Mike has taken on roles as a NED and adviser to a range of companies.
